League Champions 2015 -16
So , the
season has ended and every championship and tournament has given us the
winners. And this time there are some unexpected results that proved that
football is of course a beautiful game with so much possibilities.
Here are the top leagues from all around the world.
Starting with
the Premier League as it has the most unexpected winner this season.
Premeir
League - Leicester City !
Leicester
City won their first league title in the club history with Ranieri. This team
deserves a grand salute as they proved that passion stands much higher than the
money. As this team had no star player or a record signing. But now, they have
these star players who can be a record signing by the big teams.
A team which
did not had its existence in the league table 2 seasons back, completed at the
14th position last season and now are the champions of the Barclays
Premier League. Sounds like a fairytale or a motivational movie but it is the
truth that the whole world witnessed and agreed that Leicester are a perfect
example of passion.
Leicester
finished with 81 points clear ahead of Arsenal with 71 points having defeated
Tottenham Hotspur at the very last to sit at the second position in the league
table.
The whole season
Ranieri was so down to Earth while they kept winning even against the big
teams. And that was one of the basic reasons why he made it till here. A
manager is one of the most important
aspect for a team. The attitude that the players show is derived by their
manager.
Key players :
Jamie Vardy –
A player from England who shown pure class this season. Vardy played 36 games
for Leicester and scored 24 goals and provided 6 assists which is a great stat
to be displayed in the starting of any career. He finished second at the scorer
table behind the Hotspur star striker Harry Kane.
Riyad Mahrez –
France magician is another star that proved his worth by scoring 17 goals and
assisting 11 in a single season. He maintained a decent tempo throughout the
season and was named as the Premier League Player of the Year .
Serie A –
Juventus
Well, this is no surprise. In fact it would have
been a surprise if they would have lost this time. This is the consecutive
fifth season when Juventus won the Serie A title.
Although they
started in a bad form and were not likely to win this time but they fought and
came back in style. And once they made to the top of the table they were in no
mood to get down and thus they completed on the top with 91 points followed by
Napoli with 82 points.
Juventus have
always been a good team with a composed playing style and a defensive gameplay
which is a legacy for the team. Antonio Conte made this team a totally
different team with his tactics.
He also brought some great transfers which
changed the fortune of the team. Like Andrea Pirlo, Paul Pogba, Paulo Dybala.
These were the perfect playmakers and have good control over the ball.
Last season (
2014/15) they played the UEFA Champions League final against Barcelona.
Although they lost but atleast they made a mark in the Champions League history
having defeated Real Madrid in the semi finals and giving a tough fight against
Barcelona.
Key players :
Paulo Dybala
– Born in Argentina, this player is a pure striker. He scored 19 goals and
provided 9 assists in 34 games for
Juventus in his first season finishing second in the scorers table behind
Higuain with 36 goals for Napoli.
Paul Pogba –
Frenchman Pogba is the centre of attraction since the time he has joined up the
Juventus squad. Being a free transfer from Manchester United to Juventus
Bundesliga - Bayern Munchen
This again is
nothing new. Neither for the team, fans, or anyone else. Since Bayern Munich
gained it’s form they never lost the League title. It’s been twelve seasons
since Bayern has not given up on the league title. They’ve won their fifth UEFA
Chmapions League title in the year 2013 while they faced Borussia Dortmund and
completed a treble after a very long time.
Although
Bayern Munich have won the league title consecutively but they’ve not managed
to play the finals since three years from the time Pep Guardiola took over the
charge on the team. The three Spanish giants Real Madrid, Barcelona and
Atletico Madrid have managed to knock them out of the competition for the year
2014, 15 and 16 respectively.
Bayern Munich
finished with 88 points with Borussia Dortmund just behind them with 78 points.
Key players :
Robert
Lewandowski – This player has been a special one since he was in Borussia
Dortmund and it just can be said that he has amplified his scoring skills since
he joined the Bayern squad. Lewandowski managed to score 41 goals in this
season in 46 appearances and was named as the top scorer of the Bundesliga.
Thomas Muller
– The German Maestro Thomas Muller has been on top since a very long time and
is in no mood to just to sit where he is now. He has converted maximum of the
balls into assists and scored 32 goals in 41 appearances making him the second
Bundesliga top scorer this season.
Ligue 1 - Paris Saint Germain
This team has
been phenomenal since last four seasons showed up. The humor world gives the
credit to Zlatan Ibrahimovic but it’s not just him but the whole team has
worked hard to get to this point. In the year2012-13 PSG made some intelligent
signings which proved out to be effective as the squad have grown better every
season. PSG has won 4 season consecutively from 2012 to 2016.
PSG also
shown their worth in the UEFA Champions League. Although they’ve not yet
managed to make it to the finals of the Champions League yet but everytime they
get down on the pitch, they put up a really beautiful game.
PSG finished
the league with 96 points in hand leaving Lyon far away with 65 points. This is
the biggest difference between the first and second team in any of the leagues.
Angel Di
Maria was signed by PSG in 2015 and this was one of the best decision the team
has ever made.
Key players :
Zlatan
Ibrahimovic – The Swedish superstar has gone beyond limits of the league as he
scored 53 goals in 48 appearances made for PSG making him the top scorer of the
Ligue 1. He has still got that accuracy, consistency and shot power that amazes
not only teammates but also the opponents. His scoring ability has been known
since long time back. In fact players get to learn a lot from him on the
training ground.
Angel Di
Maria – The Argentinian playmaker Di Maria has played for big clubs like Real
Madrid and Manchester United and has made an important mark everywhere he has
been to. PSG is no different as he has played a really beautiful game here too.
Being his first season he has played like a well settled player in the league.
He has made 18 assists for team which makes him assist leader in the league
this season. What else do you want from a player in his very first season.
Last but not
the least,
LaLiga –
Barcelona
This can’t be
called an easy result as Barcelona brought themselves to doubt in the final
phase of the league. When they were running straight 9 points ahead of their
closest rivals Atletico Madrid and 10 points ahead from Real Madrid, they
managed to close down the gap by losing three games back to back and calling
one draw. Since they lost to Real Madrid in the second Clasico this season,
they were unable to find that winning blow in the next three matches.
Barcelona
lost consecutive three matches against Real Madrid, then Valencia and then to
Real Sociedad which brought them equal to Atletico Madrid and just 1 point
ahead of the Real Madrid. The league was brought to life again and Barcelona
was in danger to lose their sure shot league title this season but Barcelona
gained it’s form just in time and Atletico lost 1 game and was left behind Real
Madrid to finished with 91 points behind Barcelona with 92 points.
These ups and
downs made the Spanish league the most interesting league of the season.
Although Barcelona couldn’t make it upto the finals of the UEFA Champions
League as they were eliminated by Atletico Madrid in the semi finals but they
won the Copa Del Rey and League title to keep themselves satisfied for the
season.
Key Players :
Luis Suarez –
The Uruguay Beast Luis Suarez was a total goal poacher this season as he scored
40 goals in 35 matches making him the
top scorer of the season. After a very long time someone has managed to make
his mark among the two giants Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Lionel Messi
– This is not the first time when Lionel Messi proved to be a key player for
the team. In fact no one would be able to mention when was the last time when
Messi didn’t do much for the team. Messi Scored 40 goals in 46 appearances, may
not be on the top but is still praiseworthy.
So these were
the top 5 leagues and their winners. Congratulations for what they’ve achieved
and Best of luck for the upcoming seasons and adventures.
Winners from
other competitions will also be live within a week. Till then stay tuned !
