Lionel Messi vs. Cristiano Ronaldo

This is nothing new for a football freak to come an to an ultimate question in the football world and that is Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi ? These two players have shown our generation a completely new era of football where the whole world gets divided by one question which is the comparison between Lionel  Messi  and  Cristiano Ronaldo.

Even when you compare Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi  by the means of stats on their match performance, you won’t be able to make an obvious and accurate decision about whose better – Cristiano or Messi ?

When you see them playing on the fields, you’ll get mesmerised by their enormous talents they display on the pitch. You’ll be stuck in these statements between Ronaldo and Messi :

Messi is great at dribbling !

But, Rolnaldo is unstoppable while he’s scoring goals !

Messi  have got a great speed,

But Ronaldo have excellent explosive speed at the moment.

Messi have perfect placement but Ronaldo can score from anywhere he wants.

Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi  are dominating the FIFA Ballon D’or from last & years that approximately is close to a decade when they both have not allowed any other player to take the top 2 places. Last time when Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo were named the second and third best player of the year was when Ricardo Kaka was named as the World Footballer of the Year award as he was enormous on the field and was a sure shot winner at that time.

Since then, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are fighting against each other for the best player of the year award.

In 2008, Crisitiano Ronaldo was named as the best player of the year when he played for Manchester United and scored 42 goals for the same and helped them win the Premier League as well as the Champions League double.

Cristiano Ronaldo left behind Lionel Messi and Fernando Torres in the run to win the nest player of the year award.  He was at 446 points , Lionel Messi at 281 points and Torres at 179. Cristiano Ronaldo became the third Portuguese player to achieve this award after Eusebio and Luis Figo.

Lionel Messi then was on fire when he won the FIFA Ballon D’or for four consecutive times and Cristiano Ronaldo was continuously criticised . Lionel Messi broke and established  so many records during those four years that were unbreakable.

2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 were the years when Lionel Messi won the BallonD’or and was named as the greatest player ever. Lionel Messi scored 91 goals in a single season and also became the all time top scorer of the UEFA Champions League and established himself as the God of Football.

Cristiano Ronaldo then gave a statement after the year 2012 – “ From now onwards, I’ll play for Respect.”

This made him the centre of attraction for the upcoming season, and that season he was phenomenal and unstoppable .  His goal scoring ability touched new heights. Although he was not successful in winning much titles that season, but he was the top scorer out of the whole leagues in the world. 

And won the Ballon D’or for the year 2013 which proved that he never gives up and then again in 2014, he made his mark on football history as he became the all time UEFA Champions League top scorer and most goals in UEFA Champions League history, He won the UCL with Real Madrid for the first time, he won the Spanish Super  Cup, Copa Del Rey, UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup. That was a golden year for him as he was the only player to have  won all the titles with two different clubs and two different leagues that is Manchester United and Real Madrid and he proved that there’s nothing that can take away from his spirit of winning. Later on he won the Golden Boot also for  most goals in the league.

Later on, he was named as the only player who have scored 50 or more than 50 goals in 5 consecutive seasons.

So , Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have always been the most trending debate since a decade and they’re worth it because the level of hard work and dedication they show in training or in matches is unmatchable by any other player right now ! There’s no chance of any other player who can take their place sooner or later. If there will be, he might not be that consistent throughout his career.

Cristiano Ronaldo has mentioned in an interview – “ I don’t think there’s any other player like Messi  and me who can be so consistent throughout his career as we both are.”

Different ways have been tried and tested to come to and accurate result to find whose better – Ronaldo or Messi ? but no exact result have been found out.
